Ellisse is a panelised sliding shutter system that offers architects and builders a versatile and practical solution to managing solar radiation and aiding privacy, whilst adding a modern architectural aesthetic.
A wide range of system types - Ellisse can slide, hinge vertically, hinge horizontally or stay static. A wide range of louvre types are available, including extruded or sheet aluminium, Western red cedar or glass. The louvres inside the frames are able to be turned to a maximum of 85° by hand.
Robust - Ellisse is made from high grade aluminium and stainless steel and if the louvres and frames are operable, they are pivoted in UV-stable bushes and rollers. The system is designed to compensate for thermal expansion and is low in maintenance.
Potential for reduced installation costs – Ellisse can be provided in modular pre-assembled form.
Controlling Ellisse - The louvres and frames are operated either manually or by an electric actuator within a continuously sliding rail which is available in virtually any size. They can also be automated by a Colt sun tracking system such as ICS 4-Link or Soltronic.
Potential for reduced installation costs – Ellisse can be provided in modular pre-assembled form.
We can assess a client’s design and provide a bespoke solution to meet all aspects of a project. Backed by an experienced technical support team, we can work with the customer from the earliest stages of the project to design an aesthetically pleasing, high performance solar shading system.
We also offer complete project management, installation, wiring and commissioning, which means that we take complete responsibility to ensure that the product is in full working order within one package of works.

There are some restrictions on the maximum size of the ventilator if glass louvers are used. Colt can advise on this.
Depending on the application, louvers made from:
Suitable for fixing either onto a curb, into glazing, into curtain walling, or into roof sheeting.
For both electric and pneumatic versions, either double-action locking mechanisms, failsafe open or failsafe closed.
If used as a smoke ventilator, activation is either by local thermal fuse which opens the unit at a pre-selected temperature, or by responding to an external release signal.

Snow load class | Varies with size and options, up to SL 2000 N/m2 |
High temperature class | B 300 |
Low temperature class | T(00) to T(-25) |
Materials resistance to fire | B or E (to EN 13501-1) |

* In many cases a U value of at least 3.5 W/m²/K is required to meet local Regulations. This value can be achieved or surpassed if the ventilator is installed on an upstand which protrudes above the outer membrane of the roof. Colt can advise on this.
